We never hoped or predicted that we would return to the Netherlands so quickly. Nevertheless, we were very grateful for the warm welcome, and again, for the support we have received of our (crazy) adventure.
After relaxing for a few days, we came across the Hoeve Biesland, a farm that produces milk, meat, eggs and vegetables. Jesse didn’t hesitate for a moment and decided to volunteer and get a behind-the-scenes look at running a vegetable garden for a CSA program.
For anyone who doesn’t know what a CSA program is. It is a subscription to a weekly box that often contains local and seasonal vegetables. For a whole month, Jesse helped taking care of the garden and harvested vegetables for these boxes.
Meanwhile, plans were being made at home… In our last post we shared our decision to leave Portugal and explore other places for a while.
Family circumstances in Australia and curiosity about the country made us decide to book a one-way ticket to the other side of the world… Plot twist, we know!
After organizing the documents, spending time with our loved ones back home and researching our future pursuits in Australia, we packed our bags and traveled all the way to Melbourne.

In Melbourne we visited Elin’s family for about a week. We then flew to Brisbane, where we were welcomed by an old high school friend.
We used the two weeks in Brisbane to organise, research and of course enjoy ourselves. Our next destination was a more rural place for a slightly different lifestyle than the city and work opportunities. More about that in our next update 🙂
