Flexible planning

The last two weeks looked different than we expected. We have to deal with changes a lot and learn to move smoothly with surprises. We are constantly adjusting and ask ourselves questions like; What do we prioritize? How do we best approach this? What do we need for this?

It is a constant game between planning, preparing and, as we said before, moving smoothly with the challenges that cannot be planned.

A new plan for the stones

One of the surprises that takes us much longer than we thought when we came here are the stones on our land. Full of good courage we started picking up and collecting the thousands of stones that lie between us and the herb farm.

We have come quite a bit but have decided to purchase an extra tool for the tractor. The rake that drags behind the tractor will save the time we put into collecting the stones. Time and energy that we can use for other projects.

We expect the rake will arrive in 3 weeks. We have logically stopped collecting for a while in order to be able to tackle it hopefully more efficiently soon. We did start trimming a number of trees in the field and creating piles with the old plant material. In preparation we will plow the fields and clear the larger stones so that when we receive the rake we can quickly prepare the fields for planting the herbs.

Shadow tunnels vegetable garden

In addition, we made two shadow tunnels in the vegetable garden, which enabled us to move the arugula, lettuce and basil from the greenhouse to the open ground.

Floor in ruin

We also started laying the floor in one of the rooms of the ruin. After clearing it, the ground had to be leveled and we installed the insulation.

We are dealing with an uneven wall as it consists of natural stone. We first filled the edges with cement using a mold. We want to have the floor finished before the end of this month and that schedule looks rosy for the time being.

Water

The water in the river has dropped considerably in the past two weeks. It flows, but very slowly. To increase the flow, we have therefore moved and excavated stones to favorably direct the flow past our pump supply. It is uncertain whether the water will get even lower…

Our blog schedule

We are very busy and it feels good for us at the moment to write updates when we feel the need to do so.

We cannot predict the next update yet, but as soon as we have new updates we will share it here. If you want to stay informed of new updates, you can sign up for the e-mail list. You will then receive an email every month with any new updates.
