As announced, update number 3! A lot has happened this week we think is worth sharing with you.

Moving the greenhouse
We started the week off with moving our greenhouse.
Initially, the greenhouse was placed in a sheltered spot, which meant that the plants were less exposed to light. To change this, we decided to move the greenhouse to a less sheltered place, in the area where we will also create the central point of the herb farm.
The central point will also consist of the drying- and processing room. Moving the greenhouse was a starting point of our week, but also for the core of Farmgully.
Tractor update!
It was a fact that we needed help from a tractor to cultivate the soil. The search had started started with visiting several companies in the region. Through the grapevine we heard about a company in the area, on Wednesday we went over to have a look around.
We knew what we were looking for; a compact, used tractor with enough power, four-wheel drive, all for a suitable price. We paid €6000 for the tractor and two couplings. (More about our budget in next week’s update.)
We expect to receive the tractor tomorrow and can’t wait to finally be able to prepare plots of land for cultivation. Next week we will of course share how the first week with our new addition was.

From ruin to studio
We’ve been working hard to dig out the floor and clean the ruin walls. These are the first steps towards making the space habitable. We are very happy with the progress so far and look forward to continue with this project, next week.
The excavation of the ruin resulted in a lot of surplus earth that we did not know where we wanted to leave it at first. A solution/destination was quickly found for this…
Our ever changing landscape
A little by accident and a little on purpose, piles of soil formed and began to emerge into raised garden beds. This inspired the creation of a number of garden beds, located at the front of the ruin.
We plan to grow perennial herbs here, among other things, nice and close to the future kitchen! The beds adorn our view enormously and we are therefore very happy with this unexpected development.

New neighboors
The olive tree next to our tent turns out to be hollow, and inhabited! There is currently a nest of a Hoopoe bird.
Regularly one of the two baby birds sticks its head out. They are starting to get quite big so we think they will fly out soon.
A blown tire
In addition to all the great developments, there were also certainly challenges this week. We started the week with a blown tire! Fortunately, we were close to the nearby village and were able to be towed away to a garage in a fairly short time.
Once at the garage, the car turned out to need 3 new tires, so that was a bit of a swallow. Fortunately, it all ended well and the car drives better than ever before.

Blessed by rain
This week was, again, filled with rain and many thunderstorms. In between the showers we were able to do a lot. Together with the plants we are really enjoying the raindrops, before the summer really hits.
Sunday next week: update 4
We really enjoyed being able to share another update with the highlights of this week. Our next update can be expected next Sunday.
